What is cpap? It is an acronym. It stands for continuous positive airway pressure. When the soft tissu of the pharynx (back of your throat) such as palatine uvula and tonsils. The cpap machine pushes constantly warm humid air through your nose or moth and nose. You need to wear a cpap mask that covers your nose or mouth and nose. It takes a littke getting use to.

The cpap machine can cost around $1000 or more. It depends of the features, the quality and the use. It weighs around 10lbs. Many people have difficulties in adapting to the cpap machine. It is a little noisy. It depends on the model. It depends how much pressure the machine is required to generate.

One must consider maintenance and customer service for the cpap machine. You could maybe get one at a great price, but what happens if a part breaks and you need to replace it. What if you need to reconfigure the cpap machine. These are questions that you must ask yourself first. Price should not be the only consideration.

What is it for? It is used to compensate sleep apnea. When you sleep, you have a tendancy to snore or to block your airway with your tougue and soft tissus in the back of your throat. The apnea can last a few seconds to a few minutes. Apnea can hurt your heart and lungs. A lack of oxygen can attack your organs. It is very serious.
